Starting off with the packaging, XFX have gone with a very vibrant design for their R9 290 DD graphics card with very striking yellow and green accents; with everything on a black background. Relevant information is of course present which includes the compatibility with those on UEFI BIOS’s, the use of AMDs Power Tune 2.0 technology and of course that this particular model is unlocked; perfect for overclockers and a big plus for the card overall.
This particular version also comes with Battlefield 4 included; one of the most popular tactical FPS shooters in existence.
The rear features the same design as the front but includes an extensive feature list which includes PCI Express 3.0 compatibility, DirectX 11.2 support via Windows 8.9, AMD Eyefinity support for those with multiple monitors and support for the latest 4K HD resolution screens.
Inside of the box we have quite a few items; these include 1 x 6pin to 4pin power adapter, 1 x 8pin to 6pin power adapter, a driver installation guide on disc and multiple booklets pertaining to the cards warranty and installation etc. XFX state that the minimum power supply requirement for the card is 750watts but I beg to differ and would be confident with a good quality 600w power supply.
Underneath all the included gubbins we have the card itself surrounded with cardboard padding and inside an anti-static bag; to of course protect the graphics card from electrostatic discharge during transit.
