Packaging
Taking a look at the packaging, the front of the box shows two images. The smaller picture is a front view of the Braun Series 9 9040s Premium Shaver Wet & Dry and the larger image highlights each of the four cutting heads. As well as the bold boast of ‘our best ever efficiency and comfort’ it also announces that this is ‘Braun’s number 1 shaver’ and comes with ‘intelligent SyncroSonic™ technology’.
The rear panel is entirely committed to explaining that term SyncroSonicâ„¢, those four cutting elements moving independently combined with 40,000 cutting movements per minute. Each cutting element is explained in detail as well with two different trimmers and two foil heads.
The sides of the box showcase the main features of the Braun Series 9 9040s Premium Shaver Wet & Dry and the contents are also listed.
The top of the box is pretty Spartan with just Braun’s web address and a QR code that directs you to www.braun.com/qr/series-9-sales-mn and a simple reminder that this is the 9040s Premium Shaver Wet & Dry. The base lists the European addresses and any relevant phone numbers.
Getting inside the box was a wake-up call for me. As someone who likes to play with computer technology whether it’s inside the case or a peripheral, I’m used to seeing a bit of showmanship inside the pack as much as outside. This was different, very different.
The shaver is packed inside a hard travel case. You also get a charging cable, a cleaning brush and some protective oil to maintain your shaver. Nothing more exists except blank white cardboard. It’s very much as if once you have bought the Braun Series 9 9040s Premium Shaver Wet & Dry the job of the designers, the advertisers and everyone else is completed and that totally threw me.
