[section_title title=”Overclocking”]Overclocking

It should come as no surprise that overclocking on the MSI Z97 GAMING 7 is quite an easy process. With the V-Check Points, Debug LED, Multi-BIOS, a Clear CMOS Button on the back I/O Panel and the OC Genie 4 Button; MSI have made overclocking on this board accessible to everyone.

While I am quite the novice when it comes to overclocking I was easily able to achieve 4.5GHz @ 1.28V with only changing the normal settings.

OC 4.5ghz

I did not push past 4.5GHz as I did not feel 100% comfortable at the time but there is no doubt in my mind if your chip will handle a higher clock this board would have no problem facilitating it.
Using the OC Genie was as easy as hitting the button while in BIOS and restarting the PC. It really only does take about an extra second or two for the overclock to initiate and then your PC will boot up as normal.

Using the OC Genie 4 Button I was given an overclock to just under 4.0GHz @ 1.208v. This may not seem like much but for the slither of time it takes I feel the 500MHz bump is quite acceptable.
