ASUS ROG Claymore RGB Mechanical Keyboard Review
The mechanical keyboard market has constantly and consistently made serious headway due to the steady rise of RGB products and the ASUS ROG Claymore is probably one of the most unique and best quality options out there today. Aside from costing £200, yes we aren’t joking so please keep your derivative chortles and snorts to yourself, the ROG Claymore is the worlds first RGB mechanical keyboard to feature a detachable numpad. That might not sound as exciting to you as it does to me, but I am an avid user of the numpad for database work, calculations etc and having the ability to remove it for gaming sessions does actually make a lot of sense to me.
The ASUS ROG Claymore is never going to be winning any value awards, but don’t let that detract you from at least considering it; after all, the finer and best things in life always demand a premium and I firmly believe the ROG Claymore to be one of the best mechanical keyboards on the market, at least one of the best looking! The reason why? Well aside from the aluminium construction, sturdy build quality and the RGB lighting which is fully customisable via the ROG Armoury software, it’s also compatible with ASUS AURA SYNC allowing for ASUS ROG graphics cards, ASUS ROG motherboards and ASUS ROG peripherals to glow in unison; certainly some of the coolest software available to date!
One great thing about the function key is the ability to overclock your CPU/processor and even control fan speed on the fly with ASUS ROG KeyBot II supported motherboards. In fact, the ROG Claymore is jam packed with useful features for all types of users including N-Key Rollover, on the fly macro recording and even multimedia keys with full functionality without taking up extra space.
Overall the ASUS ROG Claymore RGB mechanical gaming keyboard is something quite special and if you have a spare wad of cash handy, you probably won’t be disappointed. On the other hand, if you’re looking for something with a bit more ‘value’ factor, there are plenty of options out there on the market, albeit not as good obviously! £200 isn’t a small outlay, but if you want the best, you better be prepared to pay for it! Is the ASUS ROG Claymore the best RGB mechanical keyboard on the market? In my opinion currently, yes!
Thanks to ASUS Republic of Gamers for sending the Claymore in for review.
