Closer Look
Getting the actual camera out of the box and it looks very similar to most standard action cameras. It comes already inside its waterproof casing. The waterproof casing features 4 individual buttons so you can still use the camera while it is inside the casing.
On the top of the casing are a pair of arrows, the first one is a small button you want to slide to the other side, then the second tells you to left of the clip which will release the waterproof casing and will allow you to get the camera out.
Once out of the casing, the camera is rather small. On the front are the power button and the 170-degree wide-angle lens.
The back features the LCD screen and a pair of LED status lights.
One side of the camera houses the HDMI, USB, and Micro SD card slots. In my opinion, it would have been really nice for some sort of flap/cover to protect from dust getting in if you don’t want to use the waterproof casing all the time.
The other side is home to a pair of buttons that will open the menu and help you navigate through it!
The OK button on the top will not only help you choose options in the menu, but it will also start the recording process when you are ready.
One of the nice features is that the battery is completely removable. Essentially what this means is that you can buy spare batteries so if you are going on a long trip, you can just swap batteries out instead of having to wait and charge them up all the time.
What may be the most useful accessory is the watch-like device that the Blackview Hero 2 comes with. There are a couple of straps as well in the box so you can literally strap this bad boy on like a watch. To make use of this, turn the camera on, navigate the menu to RF mode and turn it on. The cameras screen will shut off and then you can turn on the watch and it will show you what the camera sees. This will come in handy for people wanting to mount it on top of a helmet, or, anywhere where they will not be able to see the screen on the back of the camera itself.
