It seemed that Blizzard weren’t going to waver from their decision to force Nostalrius to close the vanilla server of WoW earlier in the week. The reason was that the necessities of copyright law left them with no real choice in the matter, it did allow though a silver lining when they added “We’ve recently been in contact with some of the folks who operated Nostalrius. They obviously care deeply about the game, and we look forward to more conversations with them in the coming weeks.”
This wasn’t even Blizzard messing with fans of the server either, after the petition to keep Nostalrius alive got more than 200,000 signatures, it seems it’s drew attention and Blizzard have agreed to meet with them.
The Nostalrius twitter tweeted a picture of the Blizzard Entertainment head offices and in a separate tweet posted “I’m pleased to tell you that Mike has replied, and we are meeting in the next couple weeks when our schedules align,”.
A matter of a week ago, most thought this would be an almost unthinkable decision on Blizzard’s part, who are usually fairly concrete with decisions. Now the Nostalrius team are going to Blizzard’s stronghold and maybe it’s a simple goodwill thing to the team that did something the Blizzard team thought couldn’t work. What seems the more logical explanation is the fact that they might actually work with this team to create a vanilla server with an agreement with Nostalrius obviously, it seems that all the vanilla fans could get what they want without any mods or extra downloads in the near future!
