EVGA’s in-house overclocker, KINGPIN have been playing with the latest GTX 1080ti for a while now and previously posted up an overclock of a rather substantial 2.5ghz core speed. However if you thought 2.5 GHz was the maximum overclocking limit for the GTX 1080 Ti, you were wrong.
KINGPINs previous posts of 2.5ghz saw the performance record set in the past by the Titan X smashed, with a hugh 500Mhz bump up in overclock though we the previous records set by the Titan X are now well in the past.
With LN2, the card can do some extreme overclocks, however KINGPIN hasnt just used the cold temperatures of LN2 to get these great speeds. Useing some custom modding on the PCB to bypass voltage lock means that the card was modified in such a way that KINGPIN could apply much more voltage than a standard card would allow. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti hit a mind blowing 3024 MHz and such a heavy clock, the card achieved a rated pixel fillrate throughput of 229.3 GPixel/s and Texture fillrate throughput 583.7 GTexel/s.
Dont forget though guys, you dont need to be using LN2 to overclock your GTX 1080ti, it has already been shown that air and water coolers are also able to show some good performance when it comes to overclocking. Ok you wont be hitting 3.0ghz but you most certainly can still have some benchmarking fun.
