Turtle beach have announced Silver, Blue Camo and Green Camo colours for their popular Recon 70 headset. The new Silver variant is available immediately, with the Recon 70 Camo versions slated for release on the 13th of March 2020. These come alongside six existing colours designed to match various consoles. All variants plug in with the same combo 3.5mm jack, so if you’re feeling rebellious you could for example use the white and green Xbox One version on a Nintendo Switch.
Commenting on the launch for the benefit of the press release, Turtle Beach Chairman and CEO Juergen Stark said “Our Recon 70 series gaming headsets have been doing great since they launched last April, becoming the Company’s best-selling headsets on multiple platforms, so we’re excited to give fans even more colour choices as they gear-up for another great year of gaming”. He added, “With new consoles on the horizon, the Recon 70 Silver and Camo options are great choices for gamers looking to get a new high-quality gaming headset for less than £30” – a comment borne out by the £29.99 MSRP.
Regardless of colour Turtle Beach boast of “powerful 40mm over-ear speakers, crystal-clear mic performance, leatherette-wrapped cushions, and multiplatform functionality”. The headsets also feature a mic that can be muted in hardware by flipping it up, a padded headband, and a “lightweight design”. The 3.5mm combined mic and headphone jack works out of the box on the XBox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and on those phones that have a 3.5mm jack. PC compatibility depends, and may need a simple splitter to adapt the single combo jack into separate mic and headphone jacks. Tutle Beach provide this under the name “PC Splitter Cable”, and plenty of generic versions are also available.
The Recon 70 Silver variant is available now exclusively from Argos, with a wider release on the 13th of March.
