Closer Look – Packaging

Starting with the front of the box for the U2. There were two things that struck me when I started to move it around, the size and weight. This case is tiny, there is no other way to put it. The BitFenix Prodigy looks like a full tower compared to this. Then there is the weight. This box was so light, I was starting to doubt whether Cooltek had put a case in there to begin with. The reason for this is the U2’s aluminium construction. Back to the box. The front has a large image displaying a general overview of the case and its features. The main item of note here is that the case only has one side panel. This is because the rest of the case appears to be build from one piece of aluminum. Another interesting feature is the external fan controller for the rear 120mm fan, but I will touch on that later.

Moving around to the opposite side of the box.  We can see that Cooltek have published a specifications list, the same as that on the previous page, so I wont go into too much details there. The only other item of note is a very simple sketch of the front of the U2 chassis.

Taking a brief look at this side of the box, there is a brief description of the chassis and what to expect to find upon opening the box. They have printed the same information on both ends of the box.

Upon opening the box, we are greeted by the U2 chassis, which comes wrapped in a clear plastic bag to prevent any unnecessary dust build up or scratches. It is also held in place by some thick foam. This is not your normal dense polystyrene but more a soft foam. Seeing as how the chassis only weights 1.4kgs I feel that this is more than adequate to protect it during shipping and storage.

Inside the the box we find a small black, Jonsbo branded, accessories box as well as  a full color installation guide. Inside this box we are mainly given mounting screwed for various pieces of hardware and four motherboard standoffs.

    • This is one of our older reviews where we used to use a different format for presentation – instead of all the info being shown in one page we used to split the reviews up into navigable pages so people could jump to the results they specifically wanted to see. You should see a orange navigation bar at the bottom of each review (above the comments section) and you can either click on the appropriate page number or select from the drop-down menu. We will eventually change all these older reviews to the current single page format but it’s a laborious process and we simply haven’t had the opportunity to complete the task yet.
