Installing Noctua coolers is a simple process thanks to their SecuFirm2 Mounting hardware. For the purpose of this review, we will be using the Intel Socket 1150 hardware.
To get things started off find the backplate and but it on the back of the motherboard so the screws are showing through the front.
One that is done you can secure the backplate in place but putting the black plastic spacers over the screws.
Now it is time to put the cooler retention brackets on top of the black spacers and screw them down with the included thumb screws.
Almost done, once the mounting hardware is in place you can put the thermal paste onto the CPU using your preferred method.
Now it is time to take the fan off of the cooler, set the cooler atop the CPU and screw it down on both sides.
Once the U9S is installed there should be enough room for most RAM. According to Noctua, it should be 100% with RAM that has tall heatsinks but as I don’t have any to test I can’t confirm this. I only mention it as though the height will be no problems as the cooler isn’t over the RAM slot if the RAM heatsink was a bit too wide you may run into problems but as mentioned Noctua say:
“100% RAM compatibility
With its 95x95mm footprint, the NH-U9S does not overhang the RAM slots on current Intel and most AMD mainboards. This gives the user full access to the memory modules and guarantees 100% compatibility with tall heat spreaders or optional memory fans.*”
