Closer Look
The Raijintek Pallas has a very high fin density which should help to bring temperatures down. The fin density on the Pallas is actually the highest of any low-profile cooler that I’ve tested so far. Whether the fan will be able to push enough air through the fins to keep the processor cool is a question that springs to mind as the fan is thin and there may not be enough static pressure to push the air through the fins, although I’m sure the German engineers have thought this one through very carefully.
If we turn the cooler over, we can get a good view of the base which is perfectly smooth with its mirror like reflection. Every CPU cooler comes with it these days and it is a must in order to get the best possible contact between the IHS of the CPU and your cooler. From this view, we can also see the six 6mm heat pipes very clearly. Rather than including a second fan on the bottom for increased airflow and cooling power, the engineers have decided to make the fins longer by the CPU base. Extra metal should equate to better cooling, but its whether it’ll be utilised properly or not that will determine the outcome.
