It’s time for another graphics card review and it is also time for another one from HIS at that. Today I am going to be taking a look at the HIS R9 270X which features 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM that runs at 5600MHz and as it is a HIS card, it is built with superior quality components. HIS has been manufacturing cards that contain brilliant quality components since their beginning back in 1987. All of the components ranging from the coolers down to the power delivery systems are top notch and I for one cannot fault them. They thrive on providing the best quality possible and although the cards may be a little more expensive (sometimes, not always), it is worth it for that peace of mind.
On the 270X which I have right in front of me right now, there sits a dual fanned heatsink which is all a part of the IceQ X2 range of coolers from HIS. It features two 89mm dual axial fans. The card itself is built on what I like to call a ‘HIS blue’ PCB as they have been using it for donkeys’ years and it is somewhat a trait of HIS. I guess it is to do with their name and colour scheme which they will not shy away from, even when it may deter some of their customers as blue PCB isn’t exactly ‘in’ right now in the enthusiast PC industry. HIS know that they produce brilliant products, which have claimed over 1600 world-wide awards to date, and if people want great quality, they will buy HIS.
So with the Radeon R9 270X core, 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM, HDMI, DVI-I and two mini DisplayPorts on-board, will this be a card worthy of your money? How well does it perform? There’s only one real way to find out so without any further messing around or chitter chatter, let’s open up the box!
