[section_title title=”Overclocking”]Overclocking

I have to say, trying to overclock the Vengeance LPX was a bit of a let-down for me. However, I cannot blame it on the RAM alone, at least not at the moment anyways. I unfortunately could not even make use of the second Intel XMP profile which bumps the Vengeance LPX just up to 2800MHz and adds an extra .15V bringing the voltage up to 1.35. This really doesn’t seem like too big of a jump to me and I have a hard time blaming this on the Vengeance LPX itself. When trying to boot the computer using the 2800MHz profile, it would load up to the Windows splash screen and then just restart itself.

Looking around the internet I feel safe in saying the BIOS on my motherboard is not yet mature enough to handle such an overclock on the ram and while it may be a bit disappointing, it should not lose any sales because of it. Doing some investigating I have seen a few of the X99 based motherboards that don’t like handling DDR4 at higher speeds, when I first looked into it I saw some boards that didn’t like anything above 2133MHz. I have no doubt in my mind that in the near future I will be able to achieve an overclock on the Vengeance LPX with my current setup but for now, I wait.

Looking around I have seen some users hitting 3000MHz with similar kits so overclocking the Vengeance LPX is definitely possible and if you are up for the challenge, is definitely worth giving it a shot.
