[section_title title=”Conclusion”]Conclusion

It is once again that time of the review where I give my final thoughts on another X99 based motherboard after having a good play and testing session with it.

Jumping into design and personally the ASRock extreme series is one of my favourite designs, aesthetically speaking. There is just something about the blue heatsinks and RAM/PCI slots that just draws me in. It could be the fact that blue is one of my favourite colours, but we won’t go there at this time. Aside from the colour and looks, the Extreme series are also quite functional when it comes to design. Everything is very well placed and in my opinion right where it needs to be. The X99 Extreme6 also features a sapphire black PCB, Nichicon 12k platinum caps and XXL aluminium alloy heatsinks.

The performance of the X99 Extreme6 is right on par with that of the other X99 boards I have tested so far, it seems to shine the most when the CPU is the brains behind the operation. While it still does well in Memory and Graphics related tasks, looking back at the benchmarks it took the top spot in benchmarks such as X264 and 3D Mark Fire Strike Extreme. The Extreme6 is also equipped with a couple of unique features to further helps its performance, things such as the vertical USB and 4-pin Molex input that is designed to draw an extra bit of power directly to the PCI Lanes will help users get that bit of extra boost they need.

When it comes down to the value of the board this is where I was let down a bit. The X99 Extreme6  comes in just shy of £220 and it will really depend on whether or not you are interested in some of its unique features as to whether it is worth the asking price or not. If you are just looking for a standard X99 board to run your CPU then this may be a bit much. However if you will make use of the Vertical USB, extra power to the PCI Lanes and the HDD Saver then this board is more than worth it, you will just need to make the decision for yourself.

When all is said and done the ASRock X99 Extreme6 is a solid performing motherboard that looks good and depending on the individual user needs, can be of good value. The X99 Extreme6 will surely handle any task at hand you may have for it, it does great with CPU intensive tasks, has room for overclocking and is an all-around a good looking board. If you are in the market for something a bit more than just a standard X99 board and want a couple of extra features not found elsewhere the X99 Extreme6 is definitely worth a look.

I would like to thank ASRock for sending the Extreme6 in for review and look forward to seeing more from them in the future.
