[section_title title=”Conclusion”]Conclusion
There has been a fair bit of hype about this mouse, is it deserved?
When it comes to aesthetics the G302 is tame by Logitech standards which just makes me like it that much more, the only real eye catching feature is that gorgeous blue lighting breathing away ominously to punctuate what is otherwise a nice stealthy design.
Ergonomically there are no two ways about it, this mouse is for claw grippers. The tapered shape looks odd in photos but thanks to a good coating, subtle things like the indentations in the M1/2 buttons, ample space for fingers on the right hand side and of course the extremely light weight the G302 is actually a surprisingly easy mouse to live with for my large hands and for people with more average sized hands I reckon it will provide all the support you need. Backing up the surprisingly accommodating shape are the very well positioned thumb buttons which are very easy to press; it really is a well thought out package.
Performance is great too, clicky switches all around and a superb acceleration free optical sensor make the G302 a great gaming companion and the spring reinforced mouse buttons are a great innovation from Logitech and will surely help the mouse put up with the torture of click to move spamming and help the switches last the test of time along with the rest of the mouse. I also have to give a special mention to the kink resistant rubber cable, I do like the look and feel of braided cables but the frustration of the kinks always outweighs the looks for me so I have taken a real shine to this style of cable lately, it’s definitely the way forward for serious mice.
So, value. Well usually I might compare a mouse to its competition but really at the moment the G302 is near peerless when it comes to being so laser focused on a specific type of game so instead let’s break it down to the core merits of what I say makes a good mouse: Solid ergonomics, check. Good build quality, check. Acceleration free optical sensor, check. Nice clicky switches all around and a solid scroll wheel, check. It all adds up to me; you are getting more than enough mouse for your £50 if MOBA games are all you play, but there is the caveat that better all-rounders can be had for the same money and less if you have more varied gaming tastes.
Ultimately the G302 is a very focused product and in a world of conservative mouse design I have to applaud Logitech for that, they have genuinely innovated with the spring reinforced mouse buttons and the rest of the mouse ain’t too shabby either. If you are one of the near 800,000 DOTA 2 addicts or a LoL fiend this mouse is one to be strongly considered. The G302 is an example of fresh thinking that has been implemented very well by Logitech and it is very deserving of a Design award as a measure of my appreciation for a non-conservative mouse design and also a Gold award for general goodness.
I’d like to say a massive thank you to Logitech for sending this mouse in for review, I look forward to seeing more from them in the future.
