So here we are, at the end of another review and a whole load of content all focused on the newly announced Logitech G910 Orion Spark.  Mechanical keyboard reviews can be some of the most interesting reviews and of course a lot of it comes down to personal preference, the other lot of course down to “actual” quality.  I think on paper, this keyboard is clearly one of the most advanced in the world in terms of features but I think the main question here is, does a £170 keyboard with more bells and whistles than a fire engine actually appeal to gamers and enthusiasts alike?  Let’s find out shall we…

Starting with the performance, I am simply thrown a back by how good this keyboard actually is.  I know some die hard mechanical clicky clacker enthusiasts are going to want me to burn because let’s face it, some people frown on Logitech because they hate anything popular.  Let me tell you now that the G910 Orion Spark is the muts nuts in my opinion and let me tell you why.  The new ROMER-G switches feel like reds, they act like browns and they sound like blues, what more could you possibly want in a mechanical keyboard?  Maybe the ARX Control feature to show game stats?  Maybe a full customisation over the RGB colouring which goes into single key customisation?  If that doesn’t appeal to you, then of course you must really prefer the plainer mechanical keyboards such as the Ducky or Filco models out there.  If you are highly into gaming bling, then the G910 is certainly going to appeal to you and although I actually use a Ducky Shine 3 (year of the snake) currently, this really does come closer than anything I have used before in terms of quality.

Obviously this keyboard comes with a strong feature set too, it features a fully customisable RGB set up (via the Logitech software).  This offers uses a wide array of options to suit their desires and with an intuitive bit of software, it makes things all that easier.  The software itself is very easy to use, clunk free and is very attractive to look at; what more could you want from a piece of software?  The ARX app is also exactly the same, easy to use and great to look at.

If I had to pick fault in the G910, the ARX dock is a great idea but having no way of charging or providing power to your device makes it a little moot in my eyes; a glorified phone holder of sorts.  It wouldn’t have hurt much to include at least 1 x powered USB port to provide power because not everyone charges their phone at the PC and as I found with my S4, battery life isn’t great as it is; one long gaming session puts a massive dent in the battery.  Everything else is otherwise good with the Orion Spark and although some keyboard “elitists” will knock it for just being a popular brand, I feel Logitech deserve a nice amount of credit for the implementation of the ROMER-G switches; they feel great to type on.

Coming in at around £160, it certainly isn’t cheap and in terms of gaming keyboards, this sits pretty high on the price list and even though the keyboard is fan and high techy techy, I can’t help but feel it is still a little expensive.  Other brands offering full RGB with Cherry MX switches are a good £30-40 cheaper but what you get with the G910 that you don’t with “others” is the ARX control, the intuitive and easy to use software, a Cherry MX red switch feel with a blue click and of course, Logitech’s legendary customer support.  £160 is a lot for most people but I do feel the G910 has a place on the market because let’s face it, people who want premium have to pay premium.

Overall my experience with the Logitech G910 Orion Spark RGB mechanical keyboard has been an overall refreshing experience; I myself am a Ducky fan but Logitech have seriously questioned which will be my keyboard of choice from now on.  I don’t think there can be any better endorsement of that and for £160, you can own a keyboard that screams quality and is going to make an impression on those looking at it.  ROMER-G switches feel great and although the keyboard is a little large, it certainly isn’t any bigger than any other gaming keyboard.  I am glad to award the Logitech G910 Orion Spark our Gold award and Editor’s choice as let’s be honest, this keyboard is the dogs danglies and for me, this is one of the best gaming keyboards on the market!

Huge thanks to Logitech for sending the G910 Orion Spark RGB in for review and I look forward to seeing more in the future!
