The Fractal Design Newton R3 800w power supply comes in a rather wide box, which is mainly black in colour and features an illustration of the Newton at 2 different angles. There is other information regarding the PSU on the front including the 80 Plus Platinum rating, Fractal Designs 5 year warranty which is epic and also that the PSU supports SLI/CF. It also features the Fractal Design snowflake emblem in the top right hand corner as well as the Fractal Design logo in the top left.
On the rear of the box, we have quite a bit of detail regarding the features and how efficient Fractal Design rates the Newton R3 to perform. There is also information regarding the different connectors and how many are supplied with the 800w version. The theme remains the same as the front with a black background and white font.
After taking the black sleeve from the Newton R3 box, we are greeted with the inner box which features a white design. Upon opening, I was presented with a user manual and a thank you message from Fractal Design which I felt is a very nice personal touch; small things go a long way! Of course the power supply itself is padded with grey foam to prevent any damage and knocks in transit.
The modular cables come in a very nicely presented black carry bag, which features the Fractal Design logo with a blue snowflake behind it and also informs the user which power supply its for; handy if you have more than 1 Newton R3 PSU.
Upon opening the bag and rolling it out, it sort of becomes a work man’s tool kit. The following modular cables and accessories are supplied:
1 x 12V ATX CPU
2 x PCI-E
3 x SATA 950mm
3 x SATA 800mm
3 x SATA 650mm
2 x Peripheral
1 x Floppy
1 x Cable tie and screw kit
Plenty of cables to connect various devices such as hard-drives and plenty of variation in terms of SATA power cable length. The best part of it is the presentation, as you can see it looks professional and stylish. I am beginning to see why Fractal Design is so popular among enthusiasts…
The Newton R3 800w power supply itself isn’t left out and comes with its own bag as well which seals up at the end to protect your power supply from dust and other foreign objects from potentially scratching the PSUs casing during transit.
Overall the presentation of the packaging and even the bundle was quality to say the least. Of course the power supply comes with a power cable but this particular sample came with a European connection and without an adapter, I had to use a spare cable for when it came to the testing.
