Samsung have had quite the reputation over the past decade with not only their audio/visual equipment but with their strides in the NAND market. With a strong showing in the memory market and with a massively positive reputation in the storage market, I can’t see Samsung slowing down anytime soon. Having been founded in 1938 in South Korea specialising in a multitude of different fields, the one I will be taking a look at today is their storage department.
The SSD market has become somewhat saturated over the past year and prices overall have been driven down by very aggressive pricing methods which Crucial have a huge part in with their recent MX100 range. Samsung have, of course, counteracted this by issuing price cuts across the board and SSDs have never been cheaper; great for the consumers, right?
Well, on the test bench today for review, I have the Samsung EVO 1TB Solid State Drive, which features a SATA 6GB/s interface and a 2.5” format. It also utilises Samsung’s RAPID mode and is touted as being the £/GB king of SSD’s. Let’s find out starting with what Samsung have to say about their EVO SSD.
