Conclusion

I think it’s a fair assumption to say that not everybody can build a PC (as easy as it may be), which is usually for a couple of reasons. First not everybody has the technical prowess or confidence to try and slot together parts worth a couple of thousand quid/bucks. If everyone could do it and it was easy, companies like Cyberpower, Ebuyer or Vibox wouldn’t be in business! Sometimes however, with select components, it’s much better and easier to let the experts handle the task for you and that is exactly what Cyberpower do as a company; they are experts in case you were wondering!

When choosing a gaming system, the most important aspect in my opinion is balance. Without balance, you either have something which is becomes wasteful or increases the risk for potential bottlenecks; that certainly isn’t good when you are looking for value for money either. The INFINITY X77 Pro GT however has the “perfect” balance between the components selected, specially the CPU, memory and GPU combination; Intel’s Core i7 6700k, 16GB HyperX DDR4 and MSI GTX 980 respectively. With that in gaming, there are no bottlenecks, certainly none I could pick or point out and even if there was one (there isn’t), it wouldn’t matter as this system beasts literally everything in front of it.

Cyberpower INFINITY X77 GT Pro Review 7

The MSI GTX 980 offers horses for courses in game and allows for great average frame rates up to 1440p resolutions which is great; 4K however is still a little tetchy at most and I give it another year before affordable cards can get the most out of 4K gaming on a single GPU. That being said, the GTX 980 had a good go at it and it certainly remains playable at medium settings on our chosen test titles. Of course having capable CPU grunt behind it helps and there is no better 4 core processor on the market as good as the Intel Core i7 6700k; it is also hyper threaded meaning it has 8 threads on top of the 4 actually present and enabled cores. Intel really excel at IPC (instructions per cycle) performance and it’s rare you will find a gaming system over the £1000 mark that doesn’t at least feature an Intel processor; no detriment to AMD, it’s just Intel does it better currently.

The build quality and most certainly the cable management is pretty good with most of the plaudits going to the NZXT Noctis 450 which is a really hard case to get it wrong with; the only major negative is the pitiful amount of USB ports available. For £1499, I would at least expect 8 rear USB ports as a lot of people these days are into streaming and those USB ports on the rear soon get filled up. Worth noting too that if you place your system in a tight alcove, you may not have enough headroom to plug cables into the top mounted front I/O, just food for thought there.

Overall, Cyberpower have a clear winning system with the INFINITY X77 Pro GT and for a quid under £1500, you certainly can’t go wrong at all! Aside from the nasty green PCB on the ASUS Wi-Fi PCI-E port and the motherboards poor USB availability, it has the perfect balance of style, subtlety and downright great performance. Games at 1080p will pose no problems at all to this system and even most games at 1440p won’t beat it. 4K is however a different kettle of fish and as previously mentioned, I wouldn’t go aiming for 4K resolutions without at least spending double the amount of this system, which defies the point anyway!
