Conclusion

Audio Quality

In terms of audio quality, the Xenta BeatBar performed given the small size of the product. Through the ranges, the speaker did produce acceptable music quality at the price range. One thing that really put me off the product, however, was the fidelity loss at a higher volume. This actually makes a product less appealing than if it was just reduced in volume to avoid the problem because I can see people being displeased with the fidelity loss more than a lower high-end volume.

The bass was acceptable and I think this is to thank for the passive bass subwoofer, obviously we can’t have a speaker that produces large amounts of bass in such a small size. But the general “deepness” to most tracks was increased making it a pleasant experience. The general sharpness of the speakers was acceptable and something that could be slightly improved but again this is a tiny product. At the end of the day, the audio quality is spot on when we take the price into consideration. Interestingly enough the faults we did find with the product are common faults with speakers at this price range with the exclusion of a few products.

Portability

The Xenta W-04EBY is incredibly light and easy to move around, but for a “portable” device I expect a design built for everyday use. For this reason alone I’m marking down the design simply because it uses an extremely markable surface that easily gets scuffed whilst moving it around, a simple carry bag costing pennies would have solved this issue. Products like the Mifa F1 and the outdoor tech turtle shell really show how portability should be done with a plethora of mounting and carrying options. However from a weight point of view and ease of setup the Xenta W-04EBY isn’t really that bad.

Battery life

At the price range, the battery life is quite good when compared to other products, especially given the dual 40mm driver design. However at higher volumes expect the battery life to diminish faster, considering the 1050mAh battery however it fairs well against other products on the market. We do always recommend those who use a plethora of portable devices to carry a battery pack around ready to juice up their devices. We recommend the Jackery Giant+, but you will get up to 7 hours battery life which is quite standard for the size and value of the product.

Other features

Connectivity to this device is simply fantastic and spot on, Bluetooth connectivity worked flawlessly. You’ll find included is a 3.5mm aux if you run into any problems using a non-Bluetooth device. Obviously Bluetooth is a two-way thing which some reviewers seem to forget, testing on multiple devices the speaker worked fine with acceptable audio quality when using the loudspeaker. All other functionality in the product worked to a quite satisfactory level with no real complaints, I really liked the simplicity of integrating the backwards and next buttons that allow the user to change the volume if held down.

Would we buy?

I think the Xenta W-04EBY isn’t a bad speaker for the price range, but with lots of alternatives on the market its hard to create a product that stands out. Great brand names like the KitSound and Bose speakers that thousands recommend are priced almost the same, but the quality for the price is almost spot on with the Xenta W-04EBY producing quality audio that won’t move air through your house but it will definitely keep you happy. But still quite impressive given the use of smaller two 3w speakers to drive the audio,

awards-bronze

The Xenta W-04EBY walks away with a bronze award, its a well-rounded product but has a long way to go before I’d consider it an amazing product. It’s really let down by the build quality and choices made using a rubber material, I also highly dislike fidelity loss which is avoidable with simple tweaks to the volume range.
