2K and Firaxis have announced XCOM 2, the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown. The game is indeed project Advent, which the publisher was teasing a few days ago.
The sequel will follow the events of the original and will be set in a world controlled by aliens, reversing the roles of the first outing.
For the first time, XCOM 2 will feature procedurally-generated levels and more emphasis on soldier customization. More alien types and soldier classes are also promised. Firaxis wants to deliver a “much deeper” level of modding support.
“The feedback from the passionate XCOM community played an important role in the development of XCOM 2, driving us to push the visual, gameplay and replayability boundaries of what a strategy game can be,” said Jake Solomon, who returns as the sequel’s creative director.
The game is currently pegged for a November 2015 release, only on PC.
More details will be revealed this month, but for now, you can enjoy the first screenshots.
