Alphacool have expanded their aRGB range with the Eis-Matrix II controller and Eiszyklon LUX Pro 2 120mm fan. That’s “Ice Matrix” and “Ice Cyclone”. Addressable RGB is what all the cool kids are doing these days, I’m told. These 5V aRGB products are aiming to make Alphacool a compelling choice.

Meet the Alphacool Eis-Matrix II aRGB Controller

Alphacool’s new Eis-Matrix II aRGB Controller supports up to 7 PWM fans with 5V aRGB, plus 2 aRGB strips. This is a step down from the original Eis-Matrix, but should still be plenty and cuts costs. A bonus of the Eis-Matrix II is that the controller itself features RGB lighting as well.

As is common in the RGB industry, fan and RGB control signals are taken from motherboard headers with power from a SATA power connector. For users with no 5V aRGB on their motherboard, there’s also an IR remote that can select prebaked effects.

Meet the Alphacool Eiszyklon LUX Pro 2 120mm aRGB Fan

These fans aren’t completely new – they showed up back in February on the Eisbaer Aurora AIOs. Alphacool are now launching them as a standalone product.

The Alphacool Eiszyklon LUX Pro 2 120mm aRGB Fan has an opaque frame with slits around it for the rainbows to shine through. This aims to produce a more understated effect than some other solutions. The RGB LEDs are standard 5V Addressable and connect with a 3-pin JST connector.

Seeing the lighting effect in the dark it’s clear it shouldn’t be overwhelming.

Spec-wise the Eiszyklon LUX Pro 2 has a PWM control range from 700rpm up to 2000rpm. Static pressure is up to 2mm H20 and airflow up to 104.49m³/h, with a 2.16W power consumption. To assist with noise, the LUX Pro 2 also has soft foam pads on the corners. Alphacool say the Eiszyklon LUX Pro 2 120mm is ideal both for radiators, though it has a round frame, and as a case fan.

The foam pads on the corners should avoid rattling against a case, radiator or heatsink.
