AOC AG322QCX feature

Amsterdam, 28 September 2017 – Hundred thousands of young people are currently getting ready to start their studies at college or university soon. For health and efficiency reasons, it is good think about purchasing an innovative but affordable monitor. Display specialist AOC has put together a variety of monitors from their portfolio to meet students’ special demands.

Nowadays, laptops and tablets are almost staple goods for a student. Homeworks, assignments, coding, statistical analysis, writing papers and essays, creating presentations; almost every aspect of studies are done mostly on these devices. After their studies, students also use their computers to play video games or watch/stream movies and TV shows or use them for any kind of entertainment. Even though students spend many hours in front of a computer, if they don’t own a good-sized monitor, they are confined by the small displays of laptops and tablets, commonly at 13”-15” and at most at 17”.

During team assignments it is possible that multiple students work on a single laptop. Sadly, narrow viewing angles combined with the small sized display results in a less productive environment, constantly requiring adjustments. When the students want to watch their favourite TV shows in their apartment or dorm together, again, they will be forced to watch them on a small display, missing glorious details, adjusting their posture to the laptop screen and possibly experiencing colour shifts because of the viewing angles.

Research from Microsoft in 2003 (source) indicates 9% productivity increase using wider screens (15” flat vs 46.5” curved screen). Similarly, results of a research in 2016 (source) indicate that dual monitor usage results in a performance benefit.

That is why students should think about expanding their arsenal with a big-sized monitor, to both boost their productivity with their studies, and also to boost their enjoyment in their free time as well!

Design monitors
For those who are out for an ultrastylish option, AOC recommends the PDS Series, where innovative design meets supreme image quality – the result of a collaboration with the world-famous design house Studio F. A. Porsche.

The PDS241 boasts a 24″ (60.5 cm) 3-sides frameless AH-IPS panel with Full HD resolution (1920×1080 pixels). Elegant design is paired with a wide colour gamut, wide viewing angles and AOC’s SuperColor WCG technology. The power and the monitor signal run through the stand and are divided in a separate box.

The larger PDS271 has a 27″ (68.8 cm) 3-sides frameless AH-IPS panel. Just like its smaller brother, the PDS241, this display comes with the striking looking asymmetrical metal stand and ultra-slim minimalistic premium design. Here too, the cable management is solved in the same neat fashion to avoid clutter behind the monitor.

Balance work and play
Those who like to relax after a long day of studying by playing computer games should invest in a monitor from AOC’s premium gaming series AGON. These displays naturally fulfil all expectations a student would have in a monitor, but what is more they come with a host of special features that will delight any serious gamer.

An important thing to consider is the users’ health. After spending their time during studies in front of a computer, spending more hours by playing games on a PC could take a toll on the users’ eyes and posture.

That’s why AOC offers Flicker-Free Technology, which uses a direct current backlighting solution instead of PWM. This means users will experience less eye strain and related headaches. Similarly, Low Blue Light mode found in  AOC monitors reduces potentially harmful short wavelength blue light, contributing to the users eye health and also reducing disturbance in sleep patterns caused by artificial blue light.

The AGON monitors also come with the AOC Ergo Dial Base with height, tilt and swivel adjustments to ensure players’ optimum posture, so they don’t have to slouch or experience neck pains.

AOC promotes responsible gaming and these features shouldn’t discourage users to have a break from the computer now and then, whether one uses it for study or gaming and entertainment purposes.

The curved monitor AG322QCX, a 31.5″ (80 cm) VA panel with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels has an extremely small curvature radius of 1800 for an added level of immersion and a “3-sides frameless” design. A refresh rate of 144 Hz and AMD FreeSync technology are the best requirements for smooth gaming. Thanks to its QHD resolution, students will have more screen real estate for various programs and games as well, and they will be more future-proofed, too.
