In true ASUS fashion, the packaging for the Essence STX II sound card looks and feels very premium. ASUS have gone with an all-black theme with a very nice and clear illustration of the sound card itself in the middle; looks like it’s travelling at 300MPH!
Also featured on the front is the ASUS branding (not ROG or gaming themed) with the model in the bottom right-hand corner; looking good.
The rear follows the same colour scheme as the rest of the packaging, but there is information galore which is always a good thing; especially in a retail environment. There is information regarding the high fidelity audio of the STX II, with the ability to tune and change your sound via the inclusion of additional sound chips; very high tech but given that this is an enthusiast grade sound card, it’s a nice “premium” touch.
Upon lifting the flap up on the box, we have a diagram showing each different component of the sound card as well as a clear plastic viewing window which allows you to peer at the wonders of the Essence STX II sound card itself; beautiful.
Inside the box itself, ASUS have included a quick start guide, safety information leaflet, a driver installation disk, a 6.3mm to 3.5mm adapter, optical adapter, a 2 x RCA to 3.5mm adapter and an Op-amp kit; a nice selection of accessories and the inclusion of adapters allows use straight out of the box.
Here are the 3 extra Op-amp chips which are complimented with a subtle pair of pliers; ASUS really have gone the whole hog with the STX II.
