[section_title title=”Closer Look”] Closer Look

Lets take a closer look at the speaker, starting with the included carry case.

closer case

First off we have the carry case which is a hard sort of rubberised plastic. It has a nice feel to it and certainly seems to protect the speaker inside well, proper carry cases like this are always good to see for something that will be on the move and open to abuse.

closer case 2

Opening the carry case up you can see we have the speaker itself on show and also some webbing in the lid which here is holding a user manual for the speaker.

closer front

Enough of the case though, lets get on to the speaker itself. As you can see the speaker has a nice clean design to it with an all black finish which features a matte plastic housing and a metal mesh that protects the drivers. Through said mesh you can just about spot the two 50mm drivers which are separated by a large passive bass radiator in the middle. Branding wise we have only a nice subtle kitsound logo at the bottom right to tell us what we are looking at.

closer back

The rear of the speaker looks very similar to the front but is of course devoid of any hardware. I like the fact that it continues on the mesh as it gives a sense of coherence and flow to the design.

closer left

The left hand side of the speaker is the business end so to speak and it features all our inputs and outputs. The thing I like the most about the I/O of the BoomBar 2 is that we have a proper toggle on/off switch, none of the faff of holding a button down and accidentally enabling pairing mode, just on or off.

closer right

The right hand side of the speaker just a blanking plate really, the marks you can see here are in the plastic film that is over the actual finish which is gloss/mirrored black.

I really like the design of this speaker, its one of those bits of kit that looks good anywhere and it certainly feels of a nice quality, my only complaint is that I think it would look even nicer with some brushed aluminium accents, which wouldn’t be out of the question at this price point. Lets move on and talk about the performance of the speaker.

  1. I have the original version of this Bluetooth speaker. It is ok but the bass was a bit underwhelming so pleased to see Kitsound have improved it in this version.
