Modding the Atomic

To add a little extra to this review, I decided to get two of my modding buddies to help me out on a little side project for the Atomic ITX case. We decided that at a LAN party it would be a good idea to mod the case with what we had laying around. After a few beers, we decided that sticking one of the biggest top down air coolers in the case was a good idea. We chose the newest Noctua top-down cooler the “C14S” (which I’ll be doing a review of on the Play3r website at some point).

It wasn’t really a huge “modification” to the case, however, to get everything fitting into the case we discovered something quite cool about the case. It can be reversed! Although this downside does come with the GPU being limited in size, it does make building a lot easier with all the IO ports for the board located at the top of the case. But the point I wanted to make by adding this into the review, look at how much space the case has! It’s so small yet can fit one of the largest top down coolers on the market inside the case (although I wouldn’t recommend this). But I really just wanted to add this in as something fun.

Tearing down a case also gives us a better idea to the materials used in the case, how it’s all put together, how sturdy it is. Now I’ll admit it did look like a hard job and we did lose a few screws. But the general motherboard reversal took them less than two hours. Which is incredible, so a massive thanks to Joe and Dave on this one.

And let us know if this is something you want to see in my future reviews, and any thoughts on the level of content. We wanted to keep it brief, however for something complex we can offer a more in-depth guide.
