[section_title title=”Installation”]Installation
Installation is as straight forward as a cooler gets which isn’t bad but it does have its tricky points! I used the 1150 mounting kit and had no real problems at all, even with taking the photos it only took between 5-10 minutes in total.
First you will want to get the back plate and put it through the back of the motherboard making sure the screw pots are lined up correctly; don’t want to scratch the back of the motherboards PCB!
Up next you will want to get the corresponding screws depending on your socket type and screw them into the pot you just pushed through to the front of the motherboard.
Now here comes the tricky part, while easily understandable a 3rd hand would come in help for this part. It is now time to mount the H80i to the location of your choosing. To do so you will also need to put a fan between the radiator and case. I couldn’t get a picture of it but what I did was get the fan lined up, put a screw through it and holds it in place with one hand while with the other hand I picked up the pump and lined it up with the screw. I then turned the screw just enough to thread the radiator so I could hold the entire unit with one hand now. Next I got a 2nd screw and threaded it through the diagonal screw hole. This serves two purposes in my opinion, it allows you to completely let go of the unit and it will stay secured to the case and it should also line everything up fairly nice making it easier to get the remaining two screws into place.
Now this is the part to take the instructions with a grain of salt. According to the instructions it is now time to install the second fan but I can tell you from personal experience you are better off getting the pump installed onto the CPU at this point. The reason for this is that in most cases I installed the H80i when if I would have installed the second fan before the pump was on the CPU it would be near impossible to get two of the thumb screws tightened onto the pump which means I would have to remove the second fan anyways and kind of start over so to speak.
Depending on your personal preference installing the pump is fairly easy. Make sure you have place the magnetic bracket on the pump itself then just set it atop the CPU, use the included thumb screws to tighten it all down and job done! You are now ready to use your H80i.
