Conclusion
From easy installation, to quiet running and respectable performance the Grand Kama Cross 3 is a solid performer and Scythe deserve a pat on the back. It might not have toppled the Europeans when it comes to the chill factor but that’s not to say it didn’t do well because silent running while your CPU is maxxed out AND overclocked is not something to be sniffed at.
It’s a massive thing, and though most of the sight is taken up with the top-down fan design it’s still quite good looking if you get under the bonnet, and if you don’t mind a bit of noise there are plenty of 140mm fans you can swap in to get those temps down even further.
At around £37 it’s not a cheap purchase but still cheaper than close competitors like the Alpenfohn Atlas or Cryorig H5 Universal, and if you did plump for a boosted fan it’s not hard to imagine getting temps rivaling the Noctua NH-D15S while still saving a few pounds.
Without making any changes though it’s still quite the performer and easily claims our Silver Award for all round performance and value. It would be interesting to see if Scythe offer an upgraded version in the future that comes with a turbo fan; but for now the Grand Kama Cross 3 is a safe purchase all day long if noise and price are as important to you as the cooling performance and it fits in your case.
It also gets our Quiet award, simply because I haven’t heard it above my 2 case fans throughout the entire testing process.
My thanks to Scythe for providing me with this review sample, I really look forward to seeing more from them in the future.
