Overclocking
Overclocking via the MSI UEFI BIOS is as always, is an absolute pleasure to navigate around; pretty much the case with most UEFI BIOS’s across the varied range of manufacturers in all fairness. Â One thing about the MSI boards which pickles me each time is the ommission of LLC (load line calibration) from their overclocking settings; not too much of a drawback on this board as it’s not actually designed for overclocking, even though it should be more than capable.
My i7 4770k is quite a good chip overall and usually it’s the boards which give up prior to hitting the limits of the CPU; I managed a solid 5GHz with this board and given that the Gaming 6 has a 6+2 phase design, I am confident in the quality of the components MSI have used. Â Although the CPU-Z screenshot shows 5GHz using 1.25v, it did eventually crash under benching, but the board did manage 100% stable overclocks with just under 1.3v; the potential of this board is quite apparent though and given the price, I pretty damned impressed with it!
