Conclusion
The TP-Link Archer VR600 is very easy to configure and set up from the web interface. It is quite compact at 216 x 164 x 36.8mm, so you know it will fit well in the smallest of places. However saying that, the device is extremely aesthetically pleasing, so I don’t think it should be hidden away.
I am especially impressed with the 3G/4G Modem support that I mentioned earlier on. Although most people won’t use it, it’s fantastic to have for those of us who need those kind of features. It’s great to see TP-Link thinking outside of the box.
The router has all the usual Port Forwarding/UPnP abilities as well as supporting Dynamic DNS suppliers DynDNS and No-IP.com, so if you’re hosting a small server from the home this will allow you to use one of the services above to set up a service that automatically updates free DNS options. This means you haven’t got to remember your IP address constantly.
The fact that it comes with 2 USB ports is another thing I was impressed with. Granted they are only USB 2.0, but it means that you save resources and ultimately money by combining the file/print server functions into one device.
Affordability is the next thing I feel I should mention. The device comes in at just over £100. This may sound a little on the expensive side but considering it will work on both VDSL/ADSL and Cable connections, you’ll struggle to find a device that can do that for less money.
- Performance Award – This is another premium product from TP-Link. It performed flawlessly on both wired and wireless connectivity tests. The router handled all tasks thrown at it without any hesitation what so ever, so I think it deserves our 5* Performance Award.
- Editor’s Choice Award – This award signifies that the device is top of its class and has the Play3r seal of approval. If I were to be shopping for a multi-purpose device, the TP-Link Archer VR600 is the one I would go for.
It’s rare for a device to pick up both awards but I feel on this occasion that TP-Link thoroughly deserves both.
A massive thank you to TP-Link for sending in the Archer VR600 in for review and we look forward to seeing more of their products in the future.

Thanks for the review.
No problem!
Hey; I’ve got the problem that my ping raises by 5ms after some hours usage, until I restart the modem.
Anyone got an idea why this is?
I was wondering, does this support WAN failover? Lets say I am using the vdsl port as my main line and I have a cable internet on the WAN port. If my DSL fails, can it failover to the WAN port?
