So having checked out the contents of the packaging, it’s time to take a look at the feature; of course I am talking about the ASUS STRIX PRO gaming headset itself.  First impressions are ASUS have followed suit with previous STRIX range peripherals in the orange and black finish; the cups have a very nice clockwork cog type design which features a striking contrast; one I actually quite like.

The headset, just like the packaging follows the orange and black theme throughout; a perfect match with the other STRIX peripherals which are also available from ASUS.  As mentioned, the ear cups feature a foldable design and although it will save space, this headset isn’t considered small so bare that in mind.

The ASUS STRIX PRO gaming headset features a very generous amount of padding in the “pleather” ear cups and have a very soft feel to them; comfort will be covered in the performance section.  On the left ear cup (right in the illustration), there is a 3.5mm audio port which allows the control box cable to slide right in; no socket for both sides isn’t a bad thing but it would have made things all that little more sweeter.

On the headband, ASUS have elected to use a section structured padding across the band itself which like the ear cups, is made from a pleather material.  This is very soft and upon first inspection, feels a lot more comfortable than some I have previously used; I’m not a huge fan of solid/hard headbands as they can sometimes dig in.

The headband itself adjusts via a solid band which facilitates its shape around your head; one size fits all in theory.  On top of the band, the STRIX logo and brand is across the top in addition to the solid plastic bridge which sits a top of the automatic adjustable headband; this gives the headset a solid structure.

The outside of the ear cup has a very interesting design, an orange cog shaped gizmo encased between the cup and a viewing window; very stylish.  The STRIX branding is present and overall, it has a very professional but edgy look; professional might not be the word to use but the feel of it is so premium, it’s hard not to use such regal words!

Inside the ear cup aside from the pleather foam padding, we have a thin orange piece of fabric which covers the gubbins of the tweeters inside the cup; you might not be able to see the orange while you are wearing them but at least you know it’s orange!

As previously mentioned, the ASUS STRIX PRO features a detachable microphone which of course has 90% ENC noise cancelling; if you wish to use it that is.  The benefits of a detachable microphone stretch pretty well in this day and ages as this allows you to listen to music on your iPod/MP3 player/Smartphone while say, sitting on the train.  Although you can do this with headsets that do have a microphone attached, they do look rather silly.
