Lighting
Lighting on the Tesoro Excalibur V2 is handled by per-key blue LEDs which have four levels of brightness as well as off of course which gives a fifth setting. Apart from being able to set up each key’s illumination you can turn off the key illumination leaving the logo illuminated or turn that off as well to darken the whole board. With the lighting on – at any strength – the letters is wonderfully easy to read, at least for the standard letters. Any additional key function that is available through the Alt key, such as ú, í and ó is more difficult to read as the LED doesn’t cover that area of the key cap. With the lighting turned off, you are left with a grey on black colour scheme and with good ambient light it is actually easy to read all of the keys, even those areas of the cap that are challenging with the lighting turned on as your eyes are not distracted by the strong blue light.
Describing all of the lighting features of the Excalibur V2 in detail had the potential to be a massive section filled with photographs that don’t really show the full effect since there is a lot that can be done with simple blue LEDs apart from simple on and off function. Thankfully Tesoro has produced a couple of videos that explain the Excalibur V2’s lighting effects in detail so that I don’t have to fish out my thesaurus.
First off, we see the basic lighting features of the keyboard…
The next video expands on some of these effects such as the macro lighting mode…
