Conclusion

Relatively speaking, the Evolution Envy Mini from Overclockers UK does have its good points, but it also has a couple of slightly negative ones that do need addressing in our humble opinion. The mini ITX form factor is super popular and with companies like AMD and NVIDIA both making smaller cards to cater for this, things are only going to improve for ITX. The Phanteks Evolv ITX is certainly a great starting point and it’s no secret that we love this particular case, but there are a couple of things which could be improved upon regarding the system itself.

Firstly, the power supply is obviously good quality, but it looks horrible in the position it’s in with the cut out on the power supply cover; could OcUK use a better one without a large and ugly sticker? Of course they can. Secondly, £1300+ is quite a chunk of money for a system based on a single GTX 970 and Intel i7 processor. Even buying the chosen parts from the Overclockers UK website, you are looking at a “builder’s premium” which isn’t actually a bad thing, but this does make things slightly more expensive.

How much of a price do you put on customer service, warranty and taking care of all the niggly bits? Well we believe Overclockers UK do it well, but given the specification and how much it costs, we believe the costs could be lowered slightly to make it a more attractive and appealing ITX system.

The Evolution Envy Mini system performs pretty well in everything bar the most intensive of titles at 1440p, but it does cut through games at 1080p like lava through a butter factory.  The Intel Core i7 4790k is a top processor and should last years and years without the need to upgrade, especially with the OcUK tech labs guys applying a 4.4GHz overclock onto the system; overclocking for the win!

To me, this system screams LAN rig to me due to its small stature and pretty beefy specifications; most LAN games will run on this system at maximum settings without breaking a sweat such as CS: GO, League of Legends, DOTA 2, and Rocket League etc. At £1347, it isn’t a small purchase, but whether you are looking for a new gaming system upgrade which values desk space or a LAN rig, the Evolution Envy Mini system from Overclockers UK is pretty tasty. Prices do start from £1013 however, so those with slightly less cash to spend can still get this system, but with a different graphics card due to Overclockers new website design which allows for easy customisation; you can even change the case if you want to, although we aren’t sure why you would want to!
