Rumour mill regular WCCFTECH have shown that AMD may be bringing Ryzen 5 3600XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT and Ryzen 9 3900XT models in the very near future as a safe bet reply to Intel’s Comet-Lake S CPU launch.

These new AMD “refresh” CPUs are said to boast higher frequencies as standard, plus more aggressive boosting as well as higher overclocking potential.

Based on the same “Matisse” processors these XT CPUs have optimised the 7nm process node which should deliver the higher clocks.

AMD Ryzen XT series would see a 200-300 MHz boost over existing series according to the rumour. No changes to the core count are to be expected, although this part is not yet confirmed.

But, why now? With AMD 4000 Zen3 around the corner. It can only be a reply to cover Intel’s 10th Gen Core i5, i7 and i9 flagships in performance as much as price trying to make the Intel variants look poor value for money.

As for when should we expect the launch of these processors, the AMD Ryzen 3000 ‘Matisse Refresh’ CPU family is expected to be announced on the 16th of June with an official release/sales embargo set for 7th of July.
