The formula from the last game gameplay wise hasn’t changed at all and for good reason, I felt though some people didn’t enjoy Absolution as much as past games. I personally thought the gameplay was great, and opened the door for others to play because it wasn’t as difficult to get into, I will say though that the NPC’s in the new Hitman seem much smarter. If I were to knock someone out around the corner from others, in Absolution, it would be fine as long as I hid the body. In this game if I were to do the same thing in the same way, the people would become suspicious and begin to search around to see what the noise was that they heard, or they can downright hunt you down because they know what happened.
Obviously the biggest weapon you have in this game is your stealth, you have to be able to move around just right so you won’t get caught. The best part of this game which is the best part of every Hitman game is the disguise mechanic, you simply try and isolate a target and you will knock them out or kill them and take their uniform to move easier throughout the level. Obviously this doesn’t make you invincible throughout the level, you will still have to be careful when it comes to attacking people, and even going past people with the same uniforms, because obviously they’re going to know their workmates…
Obviously you can steal weapons from enemies, and grab nearby ones like scissors, hammers, etc. Something I really like is the fact you can hide weapons in more places than before, it seems that places that you would find yourself saying “I could easily hide this here” it turns out you indeed can now!
I did rather miss how instinct worked in Absolution where if you’re walking past someone who is suspicious, you’ll purposefully try and hide your face. I’ve played the full two episodes and it doesn’t seem like he does it anymore, while it’s not a dealbreaker for me, it’s rather disappointing it’s not there, I really thought it was a good addition that made it a bit more realistic.
