Closer look

Now we will take a closer look at the Arctic P614 Premium Headset in a little more detail, including a closer look at what is in the box and look at the general aesthetics that Arctic has gone with for this product.

For those of you who prefer un-boxing videos, below we have created one to cover our general first impressions of the headset we will go on to look at in great detail within this review.

Now we shall go ahead and take a closer look at the P614 premium headphones from Arctic. To start, the general box follows the Arctic white and blue theme which most of their products are shipped in.

In detail, we have the logo, product name and some of the key selling points along the left hand side. On the side and front of the box, we have images of the product in full view just to show you what you are getting within.

The back of the box goes into more detail, including a full specification list that was found earlier in this review as well as detailing the features included. Diagrams go along with the selling points to show you what you are getting. We can now see the in-line controller in a little more detail with a list of the controls it can perform. From pause/play to skipping songs, answering and rejecting calls and even can enable loud speaker, there isn’t much more you could ask from such a simple item.

Within the box, you will be greeted with compact and safe set up that keeps the headphones, along with all its accessories, in one secure location and furthermore preventing any damage while in transit. Each accessory is clearly labeled to show you what is where and instructions can be found on the right side.

Included within the box are the headphones, paperwork, draw string leather style carry bag and a female 3.5mm jack to two male 3.5mm jack, handy for use with a laptop or PC.

The carry bag is made of a leather like material with two rope, plastic toggle ended, draw strings that allow for the bag to be sealed. In the bottom right corner, you will see a cool looking Arctic logo that finishes off the rather basic looking design.

Now we will take a look at the headset as a whole and discuss some of the main selling points that were mentioned on the box. To start, the construct is very basic and follows most headsets on the market. As it is an audio based headset, not intended for gaming use, don’t expect a two tier headband and boom mic!

A padded and stylish silver on black headband cushions the head while the headphones are in use. A mesh layer sits around the top and a black leather like material sits on the inner layer of the headband, being the material that will be in contact with your head, is much softer to allow for better comfort.

The headphones themselves are of a mixed material and of a solid construction. As you can see, the inner layer of the earphone is the same style leather material as the headband. From there, a plastic body holds all the internals which includes high quality neodymium drivers and speakers, then a brushed stainless steel plate sits over the top that features the arctic logo laser etched into the metal.

Also included, as well as a main feature of this headset, is the inline controls which sits between two beautifully weaved metal wires. One one side is a laser engraved/etched Arctic logo that stands out very well with a silver on black finish.

On the reverse, we see the controls and microphone. The microphone is very low profile and sits just under the control button. The button itself, as detailed earlier, plays a huge part in the use of this headset and the control it has over audio based settings. Allowing the user to change songs, pause/play, answer or reject a phone call and even turn on loud speaker. The positioning for most in-line controllers are usually obscure or too far away from the headset to really be able to use, also meaning the microphone struggles to detect the users voice, but on the P614 it is in a perfect position to use.
