Setup:
Setup is as simple as you could imagine on this device. Firstly, you need to ensure there is enough charge in the batteries to power it up. I’d suggest you just fully charge it as soon as you take it out of the box. Then simple use your Bluetooth enabled device to find and connect to the SuperM speaker.
Connecting via Bluetooth:
Turn on the SuperM and you’re greeted with a four tone power on sound and a green LED next to it, the green LED with stay lit when it’s charged and will flash when the battery is between 0 and 30% letting you know to charge the device. To pair the device press and hold the Bluetooth logo for two seconds, next to that a blue light will start flashing continuously so you know that it is ready to be paired. Once it is paired the blue light will stop flashing and become solid. The SuperM appears as ‘Nude Super-M’ on the Bluetooth menu on your device.
Audio Quality:
I was very pleasantly surprised by the level of sound that was produced from the speaker when music was first played. It brings clear, rich sound to the table and considering this is a portable, lightweight and wireless it’s designed to be easily packed up in your pocket, a bag, taken to the park or in my case the beach. It even makes itself a welcome addition in any room in the house, be that the kitchen, lounge, study or bedroom. The SuperM is well thought out, designed and executed.
The SuperM delivers good rich sound up to 90% levels, the last 10% experiences distortion. However with that said, I wouldn’t have the speaker at 100% in my house as it would be too loud. A good sign of the levels of sounds it produces. 90% and below provides fantastic audio. I got a real feel for the 360 degree sound when I put it in the middle of the room and played my favourite songs. It really does sound fantastic.
The SuperM is powerful enough to fill an outdoor area (group of friends) with enough clear, rich sound as well as at the other end of the spectrum be gentle enough to add some light mood music to any setting. For the size of the drivers it delivers satisfying levels of bass with the 2 passive subwoofers doing a fantastic job. Remember, the speakers profile is no bigger than an iPhone 6, albeit a bit thicker it does easily fits in to my jeans pocket. Plugging it in doesn’t bring any benefits other than having power available all the time. The battery does indeed last around 8 hours as quoted when playing at around 60-70% levels.
It also handles mobile phone calls with ease. I’d recommend turning the sound down though, I was surprised at how loud it was when I answered the call at top volume. The noise cancelling microphone works excellent as my partner wasn’t able to tell the difference when I called her from both the phone directly and the SuperM speaker.
I tested the SuperM with a mixture of music. Starting with Hip-Hop, Drum and Bass, Reggae, Techno, Pop and even Classical to name a few genres. While I admit to not being a fan of it all (techno mainly) I was in awe of how well the SuperM delivered. It’s good to know that the speaker will have you covered in almost all cases.
