After putting the Cryorig R1 Universal through its paces it is now time to recap on the performance and give me final thoughts on it.

Jumping into the performance and I must say the R1 universal fared well only be beaten out by a handful of cooler when testing an overclocked 4770K at 100% load, most of which were actually all-in-one liquid coolers. When comparing it against air coolers it is only 1.75c behind the number one spot and while every degree helps, the R1 Universal is well below acceptable temperatures. With on par performance with the leaders of the pack it seems Cryorig are off to a good start on giving users the best in an all-around cooling experience.

The design of the R1 Universal is another aspect of the cooler where I feel Cryorig have delivered on the best all-around experience again. The R1 universal is essentially a dual tower cooler that comes included with 2 different fans and has definitely had the Cryorig touch given to it. The way Cryorig have combined the colour combination together works well and makes the R1 universal look like a piece of top-notch kit, which it actually is as well. The R1 Universal is of course designed to be universal as the name suggest and this doesn’t only mean fitting on a number of boards and being able to accommodate tall RAM, it also means being able to be universal and fitting in with any given colour scheme the user may have going and it does.

In terms of value, you get what you pay for and if you want the best, it may cost you a bit extra some time. Coming in at just under £75 it falls right into place with other coolers on the market that offer similar performance such as the Noctua NH-D15, which offers a small gain in performance but is also around £5 more expensive.

Cryorig have done an exceptional job on delivering a cooler that delivers on their promise of giving users an all-around good experience through their products. Design, performance and value are all top-notch and if you are looking for a top-of-the-line air CPU cooler than the R1 universal may just be the one for you.

I would like to thank Cryorig for sending the R1 Universal in for review and look forward to seeing more from them in the near future.
