Here is a video unboxing of the GUNNAR Vayper Onyx Amber, I hope you like it!
Taking a look at the packaging, every set of GUNNARs I have used have come in a black trademarked blister pack which features a clear plastic viewing window on the front. The body of the packaging is plastic with the insert/box being made from cardboard. The font is red but there is no mention of the model number on the front; this can be found on a barcode on the bottom of the packaging.
The packaging itself has a flap which is held down with a small Velcro tab and once lifted, displays more information regarding GUNNAR as a company. This is displayed in Spanish, German, Italian and French.
Included with the GUNNAR Vayper Onyx Amber is an RX warranty information leaflet and a white carry pouch which doubles up as a cleaner; I will illustrate this at the bottom of the page.
Moving onto the glasses themselves, this particular sample is the Onyx (black) frame with amber tinted lenses. This model is primarily focused for gaming and although GUNNAR themselves do a range for practically every use, I will be judging them solely on gaming this time around.
Taking a closer look at the lenses, they are amber tinted and made by the ever popular Carl Zeiss. The nose pads are adjustable and automatically adjust to the shape of your nose which is a common feature on top quality eyewear/glasses.
The frames featured on the Vayper Onyx are made from quality thin steel and should be durable, although as mentioned in the video, I would have preferred a more sturdier frame as they feel flimsy but in saying that, it is still good quality.
Connecting the actual main section of the glasses (lens) there is a silver steel GUNNARs G which I think really adds contrast and flair to the glasses themselves; a very small addition to the frame but I think it sets the Vayper Onyx off perfectly.
Last but not least, we have the included GUNNAR white carry pouch/cleaner which feels silky and is very well made. This is perfect and makes a good alternative to an actual carry case although if you plan to travel lots with them on business etc., I would recommend a hard case just to ensure they are 100% protected during transit.
