[section_title title=”PNY App”]PNY App
If you have not connected to the app before when you first open it up you will be directed to your Wifi connections screen on your mobile device to connect to the PNY Wireless Media Reader. Remember, all of the information you need to connect for the first time is right on the bottom of the device itself.
Once you have connected to the application you should hopefully see something similar to the image below. I checked this App on both Android and IOS devices and it was very similar but for the purpose of this review I used the android version on my Samsung Note 3.
The image below shows the home directly of the connected USB device. Â For the purpose of testing I used a Corsair Flash Voyager GTX 128GB USB device. When the in the home directory it is very easy to navigate where you want to go through the folders you have set up on your USB drive.
If you choose a folder that has images in it you will be able to see thumbnails of the images as shown below. Â Or, depending on the file type you may see a different icon to indicate a word document, movie or other.
If you decide to watch a movie there are a few options for screen ratios and sizes. If you will notice the white square in the bottom left of the image below, this lets you pick different screen ratios by just clicking on it and going through the various options. All of the options will leave the movie player in full screen mode, even if the movie itself is not full screen.
You will also notice a sort of double square image on the bottom right. This will exit full screen mode and actually make the movie quite small. This will come in handy if you want to message someone or surf the internet while still viewing the movie.
As you can see in the image below the movie has been made smaller and is now in the top right on my Note 3’s screen. Please note if you are not happy with the placement it is as easy as holding your finger down on the movie and dragging it to the desired location.
The below image is the same image I took using my Nikon D5100 DSLR camera for the closer look part of this review. I copied the Original file to the USB and used the PNY Wireless Media Reader to bring it up and then took a screen shot of it with my Samsung Note 3 to show you that it does not compress normal images.
