Starting with the packaging, the Vulcan GOLD memory kit comes in a cardboard blister pack with a clear plastic viewing window, which enables consumers to see the memory properly before purchasing.  This is a good thing in a retail environment and it allows users to get a better look at the colour.  It has the relevant information including brand, model number and specification on the front, including the part number which a lot of enthusiasts look for these days, especially when looking for good batches.

On the flip side of the packaging, we have a brief overview of the TeamGroup Vulcan memory which states the memory is the “ultimate choice” for gamers and overclockers.

After opening the blister pack and removing the contents, the memory modules come encased in a black plastic tray which ensures they remain seated during transit.  They are locked tight inside and have no wiggle room to fall out thus reducing the risk for damage.  Perfect if you like your memory turning up in one piece!

Taking a first look at the 8GB (2x4GB) Vulcan GOLD RAM, as you can see, they are very very vibrant in terms of colour.  The modules themselves have the Vulcan logo on the left hand side, with the TeamGroup logo on the right.  The RAM has black PCB which is currently very desirable as it fits in with a lot more builds than the ghastly green PCB that you sometimes get from manufacturers.

On the flip side of the modules we have the regular white label with specifications listed.  These modules are rated for 1600MHz and have timings of 9-9-9-24 with an operating voltage of 1.5v.  These should hopefully have plenty of headroom for overclocking but that remains to be seen.

The RAM itself sits about an inch over the motherboard making this kit perfect for those who need low profile RAM to fit under those monstrously tall CPU Coolers.

Taking a look at how the memory looks from a top down angle, which is how they would be viewed through your cases window (if it has one), I feel it looks ok but there are much better designed heat sinks currently on the market.  In saying that, if you are looking to colour match your system build and are going for a gold theme, these would be perfect for you.
