Closer Look

CM Storm have gone back to basics with their keyboard designs, so no more aggressive branding, fancy colour schemes or unnecessary features, just a clean, simple yet effective, look. Across the top you have dual purpose function keys, doubling up as media keys, LED mode and brightness, user profiles and macro recording.

Cooler Master have ditched the futurist font and have gone with a nice clean sans serif one. The key caps are UV coated translucent ABS, resulting in good backlit qualities.

cmstorm-quickfirexti-keycapsThe XTi has a removable USB cable, so it can be stored separately when not in use. The underside has a cable channel letting you select the better side for the cable to trail – something that is very useful, but not found on that many keyboards!

cmstorm-quickfirexti-feetCooler Master have started to use micro USB as opposed to the popular mini USB, which I agree with as I can use the cable to charge my android phone! I also find the ports much stronger and less likely to get damaged when the cable is connected.
cmstorm-quickfirexti-portThis particular model features authentic Cherry MX brown switches, all of which are individually backlit with dual tone LEDs (Blue and Red). The switches are mounted on a nice white plate, adding the back lit effect.

CM Storm have opted for a micro USB cable, which is gold plated for better conductivity and has a high quality braid, making it quite a rigid cable.
