Closer Look

Having a closer look at this sexy beast beginning with the box you can see the mouse clearly on the box and the great colour SteelSeries opted for. I’m personally a really big fan of this colour scheme, and while it clashes with my personal colour scheme, I can’t help but admire the thing.

You can see clearly on the box the Counter Strike: Global Offensive writing and logo, along with some game characters so you clearly know what makes this mouse different from a run of the mill Rival 300.

On the back it goes into a little more detail about the mouse, talking about the CPI, how it is guaranteed for 30 million clicks and has 50g acceleration. It also mentions the SteelSeries Engine 3 Software that was used in my previous Steelseries review for the Siberia 350, so they have made it easy to customise your Steelseries products in one place.

There is a bit of velcro keeping a cardboard panel on, and when it’s undone, you can have a preview of your mouse, showing it beautifully. The cardboard panel also talks about more specifics of the mouse. It talks about the illumination and how it will change colours when you’re in game when you need to reload or if your health is low, nifty!

With the mouse you don’t get much else extra, you simply get a quick start guide and a couple Steelseries stickers. The quickstart guide isn’t really necessary either but it does give you a link to download the software to adequately use your mouse, but setting it up initially is simple because it’s a plug and play mouse.

Having a look at the mouse out of the box you can clearly see the finish on it, and how good it looks. The purple is the dominant colour but, I think the fade is great and makes it one of the more interesting mice you can get, that isn’t a terribly cheap thing that’s shaped like a car or some nonsense. The CS:GO logo looks great too and is very clear and sharp, so when the colour hits it will pop more.

Looking at the underside of the mouse you can see a Steelseries logo. You can see on the label another CS:GO logo, along, of course, with the sensor underneath it, which looks great to me.

Here’s where the pop happens! You can clearly see the CS:GO logo stand out with an orange backlight. The mouse wheel also lights up too, but I feel it isn’t quite as clear as the logo.

The USB connector looks just like the Siberia 350 with the same Steelseries logo on it too, this can of course be hooked up to wherever you want on your PC.

The black cable is the typical kind of finish you’d find on most gaming mouse around, and I’m rather thankful for that. I had one mouse before that was braided and dear lord it didn’t work very well for me due to how it tangled itself up so easily.

Next, we’ll have a look at performance!
