[section_title title=”Clsoer Look”]Closer Look
Taking our first look at the Talon from top down and we can see all the trails to which the LEDs should shine through running the length of the entire mouse, the scroll wheel will also omit some light. To change your DPI and help control the lighting, you will use the red button just under the scroll wheel.
While this is an ambidextrous mouse by shape, there are no buttons on the right side, an odd move if you ask me.
Moving onto the left side and we can see the Mouse 4 & 5 buttons and while they are positioned to be used by either a left handed or right handed person, I still can’t quite fathom why there are no buttons on the other side.
On the bottom of the mouse, we can of course see the Avago 3050 optical sensor smack dab in the middle where it belongs. There are a couple of glide feet on the top and bottom of it and if you look around the edges you will see 4 x screws, taking these out we can remove the sides of the Talon to making it a bit thinner in design giving users another customization option.
The Talon is a wired mouse and as such it comes with a braided cable, something more and more companies are doing on peripherals now and is always an appreciated touch.
As mentioned the Talon LED’s change between 6 different colours and users will have 3 options on how to control them, you can choose to let the colours cycle through, pick a single colour and let it flash or completely turn the LEDs off. One thing that would have been nice to see is if you could pick a colour and choose to leave it illuminated instead of having to have it flash.
To control the LEDs there are two things to do, hold the DPI button down and tap the mouse 1 button to turn the lights off or, while it is cycling, when it lands on the colour you want hold the DPI button and tap Mouse 3 (Scroll wheel click) and that will set the given colour until you change it.
Another nice feature of the LEDs is they also inform you of the DPI being selected as you change the DPI:
Red 500DPI
Yellow 750DPI
Blue 1500DPI
Dark blue 2500DPI
Purple 3000DPI
