ROG Armoury Software

It’s obvious that the ASUS ROG Spatha is an impressive piece of kit, but behind every good piece of hardware, there is usually an equally impressive companion or sometimes not so impressive that we like to call “software”. Yes, the ROG Spatha does require software to make use of all those fancy customisation features such as key mapping, macro recording and of course, RGB functionality.

Enter the ROG Armoury software which aims to not just keep the Spatha up to date with new firmware, but its here to back up this stylish, but highly premium wireless gaming mouse. So let’s take a little look at what the ROG Armoury offers shall we?

First of all, the latest version software can be downloaded easily from the ASUS ROG website (CLICK HERE) and depending on your internet connection, it could take minutes or hours; yes, people still use dial-up in certain parts of the world!

Focusing on the software itself, the ROG Armoury software has some very key features which are not only paramount to the mouse itself but are highly important for optimally setting up the mouse for specific games. The first page features a profile select menu with 5 custom profiles in addition to a standard “default” profile; each of which can be selected with a single click. Here you can customise each key binding to one of the 12 customisable buttons featured on the Spatha, but you can also create macros which are very useful for games in the MMO/MOBA genre; something the Spatha has been designed to excel in.

The performance tab is exactly what you would expect it to be! It has many different aspects in which the Spatha can be customised such as polling rate, sensitivity (DPI), button response and of course the enabling of mouse acceleration as well as deceleration.

Note: We will take a look at the lighting section separately on the next page…

Calibration is simple and easy due to the ROG Armoury software; it even has pre-sets for pre-existing ROG surfaces including generic pre-sets for a variety of different surface types. You can of course manually calibrate it to your specific needs, but the pre-sets are always a good starting point.

Finally, we have the power tab, which given the Spatha’s wireless nature, provides information regarding battery life and the customisation of different settings relating to this. Here you can change and configure the mouse’s sleep mode as well as change when the mouse’s blinking lights will activate; this informs you when the battery is running low and that it needs to sit on the dock for a charge. Alternatively, you can of course, use the mouse wired if you are mid game and are worried that you’re not going to have enough juice left over to finish it.
