So after a good amount of testing what are my lasting impressions of the Tactic Pro?

Starting off with the design and for me it’s a bit of a mixed bag, on the one hand I’m a fan of the nice matte finish, the indicator lights on the top and just the generally well thought out layout when it comes to the spacing of the key banks. On the other hand though the angular design isn’t really for me as I tend to go for more elegant designs and the aggressive lines along the top of the keyboard just don’t do it for me, but it is a very nice complement to the equally angular Strix headset which should be popular with those looking for a matching set of peripherals.

From a performance point of view as I said previously this is all down to switch choice, for me I prefer blues above everything else hence I didn’t get as much out of my particular SKU with its red switches. Happily though the Tactic Pro has a good variety of switches on offer as well as a sorted layout and good build quality so I’m sure users will have a good experience with whichever SKU suits them the best.

When it comes to value for money it’s hard to quantify for a luxury item such as a mechanical keyboard, it’s more a case of are you getting enough for the money. The Strix Tactic Pro is currently going for just under £100 at a major UK retailer and considering you are getting solid build quality, backlighting, dedicated media keys, a load of macro keys and plenty of switch choice I would say the Tactic Pro is worthy of the price tag.

To sum it all up the Strix Tactic Pro from ASUS packs good quality, solid features and plenty of switch choice into a reasonably well priced package and for that it is worthy of a Gold award in my eyes.

As always a big thanks to ASUS for providing today’s sample, I hope to see more from them in the future.
