Here we are at the end of another mouse test, how does the Elite compare to other mice we’ve seen recently?

Well when it comes to design I really like the mouse, the stealthy black look is great because it will fit in nicely with any setup but you still have the great amount of lighting customisation so you can have your mouse match case lighting etc colour wise. Also this kind of ergonomic shape with a proper finger rest is something that I would really like to see more of as it works so well, it isn’t quite as comfortable for me as the Naos 7000 but that is because it is ever so slightly smaller, but for some people this could be more of a bonus than a flaw.

In terms of performance on the whole I was pleased with the Elite, whatever firmware Attitude One has implemented it seems to work well at minimising the acceleration from the Avago 9800 and the tracking (aided greatly by the superbly free gliding Teflon feet) definitely is plenty smooth enough to be accurate in your shooter of choice. As a low sensitivity player though I find the lift off was just too high, it is by far the biggest problem I find with all laser mice which is why I tend to prefer optical sensors, what makes it worse in this particular case is that there is not even any option to change it in the software. However, if you don’t lift the mouse I couldn’t sell you any complaints about the performance of the mouse, with the exception of the rubbish scroll wheel that lacks both grip and resistance.

When considering the value proposition the Elite provides I have to say in general its pretty good, it has great tracking (minus the lift off height), superb switches all around, great lighting customisation and a great ergonomic shape for palm grippers. A revised version of this mouse with updated firmware to lower the lift off, a better coating and a beefed up scroll wheel would be a pretty epic mouse I reckon, but even in its present state the Attitude One Rapira Elite is worthy of a Gold Award if you ask me.

I’d like to say a massive thank you to Attitude One for sending this mouse in for review, I look forward to seeing more from them in the future.
